Julie served as Secretary-General for Cooperative Housing International from 2014 to 2025. Throughout her career, she has worked to raise awareness, promote knowledge sharing, and facilitate peer-to-peer exchanges about cooperative and community-led housing worldwide. With over 30 years of experience in cooperative housing, Julie has contributed to organizational development, government relations, property management, communications, and project management.

Inspired by her research into carbon emission offsets, Julie developed the idea of redirecting offset funds to support Canadian housing cooperatives in adopting green initiatives. This led to the creation of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada Greener Co-op Microgrants program, which has awarded over $834,500 CAD in microgrants to 250 housing cooperatives since 2016. These funds have supported projects such as community gardens, active transportation solutions, and energy and water efficiency improvements.
