Geert has been active for more than 30 years for the right to housing and the right to the city in Brussels, as an activist and community worker. In 2008, following a study visit to the Champlain Housing Trust, he started advocating for the establishment of a Community Land Trust in Brussels. He coordinated in the feasibility study, on behalf of the Brussels Capital Region, for the establishment of a CLT. He was coordinator of Community Land Trust Brussels from 2013 to 2025. Recently, he left the position of coordinator to become in charge of innovation, advocacy and European projects. He has been involved in the creation of the European CLT Network and is currently the co-president of the International Center for CLTs.
