For a fourth consecutive year, World Habitat has achieved the Planet Mark certification, an internationally recognised sustainability certification for every type of organisation. Achieving the PlanetMark demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement within the organisation through the calculation of our carbon footprint, as well as engaging employees in initiatives to improve sustainability.
Since 2016, we have been measuring our carbon footprint and have set targets to reduce our emissions year on year. The Planet Mark certification has enabled us to be accountable and transparent with how we calculate our emissions and to commit to reducing our carbon footprint by at least 5% per year.
As part of our certification, World Habitat is supporting the Cool Earth charity in protecting the rainforest and Eden Project’s education programmes helping children connect with and understand the importance of the natural environment.
As per our 2023 Annual Report, World Habitat have internally measured carbon use and our footprint is 35.2 tonnes of carbon. We have calculated it to include accurate staff working from home figures, included staff commuting and used conversion factors to include RF (Radiative Forcing) when calculating emissions for flights, following government guidelines.
