This project seeks to help the disadvantaged slum communities of Bangkok by helping the poor to help themsleves. 14,000 dwellings have been constructed to date and the programme continues. HDC helps provide emergency relief and re-establishes essential infrastructure after forced evictions. Building kits are provided to erect temporary symbolic houses and to establish the right to stay on the land. Designs are then provided for safe, stable and durable housing which the families build. Community development is a key feature of the programme and the projects are maintained by local communities once they have been developed.
