As part of its contribution to the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless in 1987, the Building and Social Housing Foundation initiated the World Habitat Awards. The projects included in this book are the winners of these Awards from Turkey, India, Malawi, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, the United States of America, Poland, Cyprus, Switzerland, Egypt, Costa Rica, Japan and Venezuela.
