We are saddened to hear the news that Jeremy Swain has passed away and send our heartfelt condolences to his friends and family. Jeremy’s whole career was dedicated to ending homelessness. He was Chief Executive of Thames Reach, a London based charity that provided front line services focused on ending rough sleeping and supporting people recovering from rough sleeping. After nearly 20 years in that role, he joined the UK government’s Department for Housing, Levelling Up and Communities as a senior advisor on rough sleeping and homelessness.
Jeremy joined us on World Habitat’s visit to Los Angeles in 2014, to see the impact of the Housing First approach to ending homelessness. He helped us transfer the achievements of the 100,000 Homes Campaign in the USA and the Y Foundation in Finland to a wider European context, playing a central role in setting up the European End Street Homelessness campaign in 2015. We will miss his tenacity, his plain speaking and his humour.
