European End Street Homeless campaign partners Homeless Network Scotland have launched a new short film entitled Michelle’s Story. Using the voice of Emmerdale’s Charlie Hardwick, the animated film focuses on Michelle, who spent her first night on the street aged 18, describing the course her life took as a result. It shows how Housing First (with common principles applied in both Scotland and England) continues to be embedded as a key solution to reducing and ending homelessness.

The film was made by EESHC partner Homeless Network Scotland, along with Housing First England, supported by funding from World Habitat’s Innovation Fund.

Launching the video earlier this month, Homeless Network Scotland stated: “Housing First rapidly redresses what is often a lifetime of inequality and adverse experiences. The short retelling of key moments in Michelle’s life in our new video shows how it does this. Welcome home Michelle!”

It is intended that the film will help to cement what is being done already to roll out Housing First, and to influence others – across sectors – to adopt Housing First as policy and practice.
