This project seeks to accelerate the integration of sustainable building projects and practices into mainstream building in Austin, Texas through marketing, education and technology transfer. Sustainability ratings have been established for 3,200 residential properties and 10 commercial buildings. A Sustainable Building Sourcebook has been developed with all the information needed to incorporate sustainability into design and construction. A range of housing programmes is now incorporating green building technologies. Consumer training workshops are used to raise awareness and provide education and training for the local community. Sixty-four at-risk young people are also provided with job and life skills through a training programme in green building skills and methods.
