World Habitat is adding its support to the #SupportDontDeport Campaign led by Homeless Link.

#SupportDontDeport focuses on new changes to UK immigration rules which mean anyone who is forced to sleep on the streets may have their leave to remain in the UK refused or cancelled.

David Ireland, Chief Executive of World Habitat, said:

“New immigration policies announced by the UK Home Office are at odds with the government’s commitment to end rough sleeping by 2027. Being homeless and in need of housing and support is not a crime, and deporting non-UK nationals is inhumane. These policies are effectively punishing some of the most vulnerable people in this country.

“World Habitat joins the UK homelessness sector in opposing these measures, and strongly urge the government to work with the sector to ensure that everyone who needs it, has a safe and secure place to call home.”

World Habitat is one of over 30 organisations who are part of the #SupportDontDeport Campaign.
