Recognised globally, the World Habitat Awards honour practical, creative, and sustainable responses to housing challenges.

The next round of the World Habitat Awards will open for entries in January 2026.

The prize

Winning a World Habitat Award provides international visibility and acts as a mark of recognition that a housing solution is innovative, exceptional and exciting. This year we will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards to the most outstanding projects and programmes.

Each Gold Award-winning project receives:

  • £10,000 in prize money;
  • A trophy in recognition of their work to develop and deliver good practice in housing;
  • An in-person trophy presentation event at an international housing event;
  • An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
  • Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
  • Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

Each Silver and Bronze Award-winning project receives:

  • Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
  • An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
  • Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

This support is tailored to the organisation and ranges from advocacy, as seen with our work with Homes for Good on the Social Purpose Private Rented Sector, to funding for the construction of a community centre, which we provided for TAWAH in Tanzania.

World Habitat Awards Network

All award winners (bronze, silver and gold) are invited to join the World Habitat Award Network: A group of former winners and finalists of the competition since 1986. Every year, new winners join the Network and every year it grows from strength to strength.

We organise online and in person meetings for Network members to learn about each other’s practice in the field of housing. Members can share information with the Network through a dedicated LinkedIn group and reach out to other members to explore synergies and collaborations.
