The work of Terra Nova Regularizações Fundiárias involves land tenure regularisation and the upgrading of informal settlements through an innovative partnership between residents’ associations, government agencies and the private sector.
Established in 2001, Terra Nova has worked to negotiate land tenure agreements between residents and private landowners in 28 informal settlements across the country, benefiting a total of 22,120 low-income households to date.
