    The World Habitat Awards competition has been run by World Habitat in partnership with UN-Habitat since 1985. In that time some of the world’s most remarkable and innovative housing projects have received international recognition for their work. This year we will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards to the most outstanding projects and programmes.

    Each Gold Award-winning project receives:

    • £10,000 in prize money;
    • A trophy in recognition of their work to develop and deliver good practice in housing;
    • An in-person trophy presentation event at an international housing event;
    • An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
    • Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
    • Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

    Each Silver and Bronze Award-winning project receives:

    • Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
    • An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
    • Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

    Eligibility

    We want to hear about projects from around the world that:

    • Focus on affordable and adequate housing;
    • Have taken action to address the climate emergency;
    • Are currently in progress or were completed within the last ten years;
    • Actively promote diversity, equality and inclusion; and
    • Have been designed and/or delivered in close collaboration with residents and the local community.

    Please note that projects at the design, prototype, or planning stage, or those completed more than ten years ago, will not be considered.

    We do not provide funding for projects.

    All entries must be received by 23:59 GMT on Wednesday 4 March 2026.

    If you have any questions, please contact us at wha@world-habitat.org. Thank you.

    AI Guidance for Applicants

    We recognise that applicants may use AI generative tools when preparing their submissions; however, all information must be accurate, verifiable, and genuinely based on the realities of your project. AI should support, not replace, your own voice: human-written stories, reflections, and insights are far more engaging and meaningful for our reviewers. Submissions containing invented or unverifiable details will not be considered, so please ensure your narrative reflects authentic experience and real impact.

    Please list the activities and work your organisation and partners carry out.

    Please include the reasons why your project started and the challenges you are trying to overcome. Also, include the context you are operating in, who you are trying to help, and why, and what life is like for them.

    Please include the achievements you are most proud of, and what it would mean to you – and the people you have supported – to win a World Habitat Award.

    Please upload below any impact assessments, evaluations, case studies etc. as accompanying evidence for your submission.

    Drop files here or
    Max. file size: 50 MB.

      Please include details of what is different or special about your approach and whether another organisation is doing similar work. We are particularly interested in any creative solutions that you may have developed.

      Please include details of how you work with partners, beneficiaries and stakeholders and how you include the community in your work.

      Please provide information about your operating costs and how they are met. Also, include any fundraising details (including those of the funder) that have helped to deliver your project. In addition, please tell us about any funds you have raised to deliver the project, including the names of funding organisations.

      Please include details of how your project has achieved what it set out to, and how it has improved lives, including helping people to develop skills and/or find work, or generated any other type of income. We are also interested in whether your project has influenced any policy or practice.

      Drop files here or
      Max. file size: 50 MB.

        Please include details of what you have done to protect the environment through your work (if applicable)? E.g. Please include details of whether your project was inspired by another project elsewhere and/or whether it has been replicated by others locally, nationally or internationally. We are also interested in whether you have successfully scaled up your approach.

          If your project is now completed, we would like to know whether your plan to replicate it elsewhere. If it is ongoing, we would like to know your future costs will be met. Please explain whether your future plans depend on something outside of your control.

          The Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners participate in a year-long collaboration with World Habitat. With that in mind, please detail what activities you would like to work with us on and why you think they would be valuable to you and others.
