We take our responsibilities in the climate emergency seriously, and recognise that the carbon emissions we generate are part of the problem.

As a global organisation working to improve housing for people in diverse communities around the world, we also know that no single team can fully reflect the rich variety of lived experiences we encounter.

We are actively shaping a culture where carbon reduction and equity and inclusion are central to our mission and day-to-day operations.

Reducing carbon

At World Habitat, we believe the climate crisis is the greatest threat to achieving our vision. We are all impacted, but its effects are felt most by the poorest communities with the least responsibility for creating it. These same communities often live in the worst housing conditions, with the fewest resources to adapt.

What we’ve done so far

We want to be a leading carbon-responsible organisation and are committed to delivering our strategy whilst reducing our emissions as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Embracing equality, diversity and inclusion

While we may never reflect the full diversity of the communities we serve, we’re creating a culture where different voices are heard and valued.

In 2024, we implemented an action plan based on advice from the National Centre for Diversity.
